Description

The Platinum Tools PT-OTDR-100 is a powerful and compact handheld tool designed specifically for field technicians and network engineers. It combines the functionality of a Mini Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) and a copper cable tester. As a result, it is a versatile and essential device for troubleshooting both single-mode fiber optic infrastructures and twisted-pair copper cabling.

With dual wavelengths of 1310 nm and 1550 nm, the PT-OTDR-100 offers a 28/26 dB dynamic range. This allows it to analyze fiber links ranging from 3 meters up to an impressive 105 kilometers. Because of this, it is suitable for use in a wide range of environments, from small office networks to large telecommunications infrastructures.

One of the most impressive features of the PT-OTDR-100 is its ability to detect localized reflections with exceptional accuracy. With an event blind zone of ≤1.6m and an attenuation blind zone of ≤8m, it can pinpoint any faults or issues in the network with utmost precision. This is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of any network.

In addition to its OTDR capabilities, the PT-OTDR-100 also includes a built-in 10mW Visual Fault Locator (VFL), an Optical Power Meter (OPM), and a Stabilized Laser Source (LS). These tools are essential for identifying and troubleshooting issues in both fiber optic and copper cabling.

Furthermore, the device also measures twisted-pair cable length and can pinpoint distances to faults such as opens or shorts. It can also perform data network port continuity and UTP validation using the included RJ45 remote indicator.

The PT-OTDR-100 is controlled via a 5.55 inch (14.1 cm) OLED touchscreen with a crisp 1280×720 resolution. This user-friendly interface allows technicians to easily navigate and access all the device’s features. In addition, the device also automatically generates an Event Map for quick troubleshooting curves. Tests can be saved and exported directly as PDF or SOR files, making it easy to share and analyze data.

Equipped with a rechargeable 3.7V 4000mA lithium-ion battery, the PT-OTDR-100 delivers approximately 5 to 6 hours of continuous runtime. This ensures that technicians can complete their tasks without the worry of battery life running out.
