CCTV Power Supply Adapter

A CCTV power supply adapter changes AC power to 12V DC power. It can feed one camera. A 12V CCTV power supply helps cameras run. A security camera power adapter is a good fit for a small site. A CCTV power supply box can feed many cameras from one point. A DC power adapter for cameras can also replace a failed unit.

Also, analog, AHD, and IP cameras use 12V DC power. Most use a 2.1 mm by 5.5 mm barrel plug. The center pin is often positive. This common plug can make setup quick. Still, check each camera before you connect power. Match the voltage, plug size, pin type, and current.

CCTV power supply adapter choices may include 10A, 12A, 20A, and 29A units. Pick a unit that can handle the full load. First, add the power needs for all cameras. Then, allow enough power for steady use. A 12V CCTV power supply should not run past its rated load.

For example, units use plus and minus screw posts. These posts can keep wire runs neat and firm. A CCTV power supply box may also have a fuse for each path. Some use PTC fuses that can reset. If one path has a short, the other paths may stay on. This helps limit a fault to one camera.

However, long wires can lose voltage on the way. Some units can send up to 13.7V to help with this loss. Use that feature only when the camera can accept it. A security camera power adapter still needs the right wire and load.

Choose a DC power adapter for cameras with care. Check the camera data, plug, and total load. The right unit helps keep video clear and power steady.
